Jill Goranson (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist, producer, & educator of Métis, Swedish, and Austrian descent, originally from Red Deer, Alberta.

Her background in music theatre roots her work somewhere between the style of A Chorus Line and a newly-devised Brechtian style absurdist performance art piece. As a professional actor, some of Jill’s credits include: The Perfect Bite (SecretCity/Netflix), The Tempest (Theatre Rusticle) and The Stickman’s Hollow (feature film). As a creator, Jill’s work has been shown in Vancouver and Toronto, and her newest piece Pansyland (an immersive theatre experience for kids) premiered this summer at Vancouver Kids Fringe.

Creating within community has been the driver of much of Jill’s work as she develops new workshops rooted in indigenous ways of knowing with her colleague Ceanna Wood, produces art events with her collective Art Pop-Up, and facilitates community programs at Arts Club.

The world of improvised comedy has always been inspiring to Jill and has been a place where her work as a dancer, writer, actor, clown and musician can all collide. Jill’s improv journey started at Blind Tiger, led her to the Vancouver Improv Festival, and inspired her one-person stand up comedy/improvised musical show, Sweaty, Bloated & Stressed. In her two years as General Manager, she spearheaded projects including: Improv for Folks with Brain Injuries (alongside Fraser Valley Brain Injury Association), Bloc Fest, and their teen and youth programming (in collaboration with Carousel Theatre for Young People) and now starting in 2026 is the new Artistic Director of Blind Tiger Comedy.

Jill has a degree in Music Theatre from Sheridan College, loves harmonizing, has run three half-marathons, has her Advanced Scuba Diving Certification, a certification in non-violent intervention training, and would like to hike the West Coast Trail again (with less bears this time).
